The Colombian Greater Savanna is very large and natural areas are to be found in Casanare that have never been visited before, therefore possessing all of its wildlife intact. Moriche swamps in marshes brimming with capybaras, alligators, deer and an endless stream of birds are one of the wonders to behold in this distinctive natural sites kept safe by nature-lovers that are sympathetic to the alternative use of these lands.

If the traveling party doesn’t have a lot of time to spare but wish to know this region in all its soaring splendor, we have an option of spending four (4) nights in the Savannah (“Llanos”) and make the most of the flight connection between Bogota and Yopal. After landing, the traveling party will be transported via pickup or motorboat to one of the most renowned manors (Hacienda) in Casanare for the preservation of wildlife.

DEPARTURE/RETURN LOCATION: Hotel – Villa de Leyva or Bogotá – Villa de Leyva or Bogotá Hotel or according to its itinerary.

DEPARTURE TIME: 8AM, please be ready to depart 10 minutes before the aforementioned time.

Day 1.

Schedule according to flight. Upon arrival at the Yopal Airport, we will be waiting the traveling party to transport it via land through Paz de Ariporo to El Temblor –a typical household range manor. Duration of the trip is of two hours.

1PM. Lunch.

2PM. Arrival at a traditional range farm. The afternoon will be used to enjoy the place and adapt to the warmer climate.

4PM. Leisure stroll around the farm and towards a wetlands to enjoy the magnificent Llanero (or ranger) sunset of bright, intense colors.

6:30PM. Dinner.

Day 2.

8AM. Breakfast.

9AM. Horseback riding combined with herding activities in the morning to experience an authentic ranger experience.

12M. Lunch at the range farm and relaxation in hammocks.

2PM. Exploration hike through a Gallery Forest and visit to the creek, where abundant wildlife may be observed.

4:30PM. Return to the range farm to relax and enjoy the stay until dinnertime.

6:30PM. Dinner.

Day 3.

7:30AM. Breakfast.

8AM. Continue towards La Aurora Cattle Ranch -2-hour car drive approximately. The car drive will stop at different wetlands and swamps to observe the Savanah wildlife.

11AM. Check-in at the hotel and room accommodation.

12M. Lunch.

2PM. Hike to the Gallery Forest to search wild Howler monkeys and enjoy an entertaining afternoon in the forest.

4:30PM. Return to the Cattle Ranch to rest until dinnertime.

6:30PM. Dinner.

 Day 4.

8AM. Breakfast.

9AM. Photo-safari of the surrounding areas and observation of the Great Savanah wildlife, such as deer, capybaras, wild hogs, spectacled caimans and, if we’re very lucky, even giant anacondas.

12M. Lunch.

2PM. The photo-safari takes us through different sectors of the grounds at walking distance from the Cattle Ranch to see the numerous ecosystems in the region, including creeks, woodlands and swamplands.

4:30PM. Return to the Ranch and rest while getting ready for dinner.

6:30PM. We generally are treated to the music from the region, as it is a common dinner activity in the big Savanah ranches.

Day 5.

7AM. Breakfast. Preparations to initiate the trip back.

8AM. Departure for Yopal. The starting time of the trip will depend on the flight schedule. Return to Bogota and transfer to your hotel or to the connection point for your following destination.

Note: Depending on budget, the trip may include/remove one day. It is recommended to select one of the two lodging/hosting options. Request a quote according to the size of the traveling party, available days and activities to pursue.
