Tour the ancient indigenous roads rebuilt by the German architect Geo von Lengerke. The road slopes downwards in the direction of the Suarez Canyon, with wondrous views and the opportunity to see first-hand the peasant’s lifestyle in Tobacco plantations and the drying of Caney leaves. Enjoy the breathtaking dry Andean landscape. Upon arrival at Guane village, visit the stony church of Santa Lucia and its small square plaza. Another visiting highlight is Guane’s Paleontological and Archeological Museum, which preserves some of the region’s fossils, several pieces of the Guanes indigenous people –including the mummified remains of a small girl, religious antics and objects from ancient times.
Medium-low demand hiking tour with an elevation difference of 350 meters. The tour begins at 1,300 meters above sea level and descends to 1,020. Ideal for any age group, even for mature travelers up to 72 years old, given good health conditions. Broken terrain sloping downwards with short ascents. Average hiking duration of 2 hours. Warm weather with low probability of rain. Adequate clothes and trekking shoes are a must. Return to Barichara in Tuk-Tuk or public transportation with an average duration of 20-25 minutes.
