There is a magical place in Colombia where the large expanses of the Gran Sabana to the south begin to become more and more exuberant until they become the Amazon rainforest. A place surrounded by waters and hence its name “Guainia” which means land of waters. A place where rock formations of the Guyanes Shield, the oldest on the planet, form a landscape of surprising spectacularity, admirable in the famous Cerros de Mavecure. And where the Upper Orinoco receives the waters of the Inirida, Atabapo and Guaviare rivers forming a complex network of wetlands that give life to the Great Orinoco.
